Computer Numerical Control, referred to as CNC in day-to-day jargon, allows highly automated machine tools to be managed and controlled by a computer. CNC serves to control the functions and movements of a machine tool using CAD (computer-aided design) and CAM (computer-aided manufacturing). Today, CNC machinery is functioning in all types of industries, and in companies small and large. Simply put, Computer Numerical Control is essential to modern manufacturing, with many facilities having adopted the technology.
For CNC classes in Ajax, the Institute of Technical Trades provides training programs that are wide-ranging and comprehensive. As many companies are modernizing their manufacturing and technologies, I.T.T. is training CNC specialists to fill the labor need. In fact, traditional machinists are actually losing ground to highly trained CNC machinists. CNC professionals are coming into the market with high-levels of proficiency in programming and machining. And importantly, the demand is there - employers are looking for the best.
The Institute of Technical Trades prepares CNC machinists with the highest quality training and up-to-the-minute skills. Graduates are able to provide employers with the specialization and skill sets that are most in demand. And in today’s manufacturing landscape, MasterCAM, SolidWORKS, and AutoCAD are primary needs.
MasterCAM
MasterCAM is highly specialized CAD-CAM software that is employed in computer-aided design. In the manufacturing process, it’s a primary tool used by machinists and engineers alike. The MasterCam software allows an operator to create and design “virtual parts”, while working in a desktop application. MasterCam is the most widely used software in the world.
AutoCAD
AutoCAD is also highly specialized, and well regarded internationally. This is software that would be used for 2D and 3D computer-aided design and drafting. Today, AutoCAD is available in a few platforms - a cloud-based application; a mobile-device application; and a desktop application. AutoCAD is widely used by graphic designers, architects, and engineers.
SolidWORKS
SolidWORKS is a proprietary software application. It’s used in computer-aided design, modeling, and engineering. SolidWORKS is being used around the world by professionals in a wide variety of industry sectors. As a conventional design tool, SolidWORKS is internationally recognized as a “solid modeler”, specifically for creating custom design models/assemblies.
Industry growth in CNC technology is on the rise – and consequently, there’s a matching demand for operators. To meet the needs of industry, the Institute of Technical Trades offers CNC classes in Ajax. I.T.T. prepares professionals for future careers, offering Diploma Programs in Computer Numerical Control that are recognized throughout industry. With training that includes machine setup, operation, and programming, CNC graduates are well equipped.
CNC classes in Ajax incorporate training that encompasses machining, assembly, and the use of “machineable” wood, wax, and metal. The training regimen is designed so that students learn first hand: the proper operation of tools and machinery; the proper operation of CNC mills and lathes; and the proper use of precision instruments. Computer Numerical Control classes also include in-depth instruction in the preparation and outputting of engineering blueprints.
I.T.T. students are always kept up-to-date with state-of-the-art machinery, tools and technologies. The training program is leading edge, and projects are completed to precise specifications, while maintaining the highest of technical standards. The training is designed to simulate real world tolerances and expectations – and in the real world, that’s what employers expect. CNC classes in Ajax are intended to drive graduates to meet those expectations from day one.
Training through the Institute of Technical Trades provides students with the high-level skills to program and operate CNC tools with proprietary software. The training provides students with a hands-on experience, and with instruction that assures operational proficiency. Students work in a “hands-on” environment, where the focus is on project participation and practical training. I.T.T. instructors are qualified and competent, and the program is challenging,
The Institute of Technical Trades is a registered Private Career College (under the umbrella of the Private Career Colleges Act). Students use the most current computerized tools and machinery, and the classes are small – it’s an environment that exposes students to unlimited learning opportunities, while they develop and enhance their particular skill set. Students are motivated to challenge themselves with the most complex and demanding projects.
Overall, I.T.T. graduates are ready to work on completion of the CNC program. They are trained and ready to take on the future needs of industry, where some 40% of jobs will be in technology and trades. Employer demand is increasing, and industries of all types and sizes are in need of skilled workers. The Institute of Technical Trades is the right place to acquire the required skills.
CNC Machine Setup / Operator / Part Programmer
This program is specifically designed to provide comprehensive training in the setup, operation, and programming of lathes and mills. The program is 28 weeks in duration, and is approved by the Private Career Colleges Act. CNC classes in Ajax trains students in the following:
- Studies in mathematics for machinists
- Operating the CNC Mill and CNC Lathe
- SolidWORKS, AutoCAD, and MasterCAM
Funding and Financial Assistance for Students
Financial constraints should not be preventing any student from self-education. I.T.T. has various funding and financial aid options for most full time students. Naturally, financial assistance is based on the student’s needs. It is calculated on the difference between the student’s “financial contribution” and the total cost of a program. I.T.T has a Financial Aid Officer with experience in sourcing funding, as well as preparing the required applications and paperwork.
In the near future, there will be a predicted market shortage of skilled trades. This is mainly because today’s labor generation has preferred “white collar” jobs. This trend has left a big gap where skilled trades are required. And with baby boomers getting closer and closer to retirement high paying jobs in the skilled trades are opening up. At the Institute of Technical Trades, leading edge training is positioned to create the next generation of skilled workers.
I.T.T. has over 40 years of experience in training and education – it makes for thousands of graduates who are now in well paying jobs and careers.
